People tend to measure the value of something by how much they can get from it. When people get hurt, they look for a concept or a god that will make them feel better about their pain. It is like they think that if they can find a god that will make their pain go away, then they will stop feeling the pain. This is not true.

The problem with this way of thinking is that once you have measured your pain by whether or not you have found your god, you begin to think only about the god. You forget about yourself and forget about your own feelings. As soon as you do this, you start believing in the god because you made it all up in the first place.
